Nagano Olympics Ski Jumping Station and Winter Olympics Memorial Museum, Hakuba
Hakuba was the site of several events for the 1998 Winter Olympics including both Alpine and Nordic events. The ski jump is still in use and on some days you may see ski jumpers training on the ski jumping station in Hakuba while you travel up the lift to the start tower. The ski jumping station is easily accessible from Hakuba Village and is a prominent landmark of the town.
Nearby to the ski jumping station is the Hakuba Winter Olympics Memorial Museum which is a small museum where you can view such items as ski wear worn by Olympic athletes who competed at the 1998 Winter Olympic Games and can view the history of skiing in the Hakuba area.
Japanese Culture Experience at Sho-ya Maruhachi
Sho-ya Maruhachi is a traditional 180 year old house at Shinden which is near Iwatake. On selected days, you can enjoy a Japanese culture experience tour where you would take part in a Japanese tea ceremony, try on a kimono, watch a demonstration of origami paper folder and partake in a lunch of Japanese cuisine in a historic atmosphere.
